following directions

I have spent the better part of the last three days working on my office. With a little help, I got the office painted, put together two desks and two book cases, and got my computer set up. Each desk and each book case came with the necessary parts (albeit a few screws were missing) and relatively easy to follow directions. If I had just pulled out all of the pieces and went to work without following the directions, my office would be in shambles. I was glad to have clear directions. In life, we need clear directions. I'm glad God has given us the Bible, His blueprints for life, to follow. We can either ignore His directions and try to figure out life out on our own, or we can do it His way. It's our choice. I think I'll do it His way.

Iowa

Contrary to popular opinion, Iowa is much more than just corn fields. Certainly, there are corn fields a plenty, but where we are, there is an abundance of trees as well. Actually, just south of Boone, there is a beautiful wooded state park. On Saturday, despite the cooler weather and strong wind, we enjoyed a hike through the woods on one of the scenic trails in that park. Tonight, while Kendra was enjoying ice cream with a new friend, Javan and I took a back way to Ogden and I marveled at the Michigan-like scenery. I guess the Lord knew it would be hard for us to leave Michigan and put us in a place that very much looks like home...except for all the corn fields.

our first Sunday

Today was our first official Sunday at Cornerstone Alliance Church in Boone. We were greeted with a beautiful spring day and many smiling faces. In each of the two service, I had the opportunity to speak for a few minutes and share our appreciation for the warm reception we received and about our excitement for the days ahead. During the Sunday School hour, I shared a little as well. Actually, it was more of a Q & A time. The folks at Cornerstone genuinely seem excited about having us here. There is a great spirit here and we are excited to be a part of this church family.
