Anybody watching the news lately has no doubt heard about all the rain and flooding in Iowa. Living in Boone, we have not been affected too much, but many areas nearby have. Des Moines, which is less than an hour away, has experienced tremendous flooding and has even had areas evacuated. Highway 30, which travels east and west, and runs just south of town, has been partially shut down. The highway crosses over the Des Moines River, well...it used to. Now the river crosses over the road. We went and checked it out a couple of days ago. It was a pretty amazing sight.
The 1st picture was taken from the west bound lane of Highway thirty facing toward the west.
This 2nd picture was taken on the west bound lane facing the east. It's cool to see the road just disappear.
This last picture shows the lines on the road submerged under water.
